Just a small portion of the very grand Marwar state before the independence Jodhpur is one established city today. This palce for first a sea called Drumkulya and all most hundred centuries before this was a desert that came into existence. It becoming a desert also has a history attached.
It is said that there was an arrow bound fire shot by Lord Rama which burnt a large part of the sea and it thus converted that space into a desert. After the ravages of many kings it was then hundreds years later under the reign of king Rao Jodha of the Vikram Era (1510), a city was slowly born and also established. It was said to be around a fort that was constructed by King Rao Jodhar.
Reaching to this place is not at all difficult because this place has its own airport and it also links to the many other major tourist destinations like Delhi, Mumbai, Udaipur and Jaipur. The railway network also connects this city well to the others. Roadways are also an easy way to get to this space.

Tour HighlightsConstructed during 12th century on Trikuta hills, it is the largest and massive fort of this state. Overall height of the fort is somewhere around 250 ft and there is a very famous Jain temple within the fort. You must pay a visit to this temple while exploring the magnificent fort. After looking at this fort, you can understand why it is known as a Golden city. Main attractions within the fort include Raj Mahal and Laxminath temple.
Mehrangarh Fort is the first attraction where you will just be mesmerized with the looks. It is one 5km long majestic fort situated at on the top of the hill and also has the most interesting and also spectacular structures which you can see. There is a winding rod which then gets connected to the four gates of the fort. Into this fort are also a few magnificent palaces.
Built up in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II the Jaswant Thada is one Cluster of royal cenotaphs made up in white marble. It also has the many portraits of various Jodhpur rulers.
Clock Tower and Sardar Market which is also one of the most prime attractions here also show cases the the colourful sardar market which is situated near it. It sells a lot of textiles, antiques, other silverware and many handicrafts.
Raj Ranchhodji Temple made up by the queen Jadechi Rajkanwar in the memory of her late husband King Jaswanth Singh is also one attraction here. Most of this temple is made up of red sandstone and is also carved with very beautiful filigree work. In the heart of the temple there is a statue of Ranchhodji which is made up of black marble.
Umeed garden spread over almost 85 acres of land was the oen that was developed by Maharaja Umeed Singh. This garden is worth visiting as it has many ashoka trees, roses and also seasonal flowers museum fountains, library and also a zoo. Here you can take a look at all the many different species of birds and animals like bears, foxes, deers etc.
