Jaipur, popularly known as the Pink City, is the royal capital founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. The city showcases the rich Rajput heritage through its majestic forts, palaces and historic markets. Along with royal architecture, Jaipur is also famous for its warm hospitality, colourful bazaars, handicrafts and traditional jewellery.

The winter season (September to April) is the best time to visit Jaipur, when the temperature remains pleasant and perfect for sightseeing. During peak summer months, temperatures can rise above 45°C, making it quite hot for daytime monument visits.

Jaipur is well-connected by road, rail and air with all major Indian cities. Once in Jaipur, you can hire a comfortable car with driver from Jaipur Tour by Car and Driver to explore popular attractions at your own pace. We offer Jaipur local sightseeing as well as extended Rajasthan and Golden Triangle tours.

Tourist Attractions
Amber Fort

Located around 11 km from the city centre, Amber Fort is one of the most iconic forts of Rajasthan. Built in red sandstone and marble, the fort complex includes palaces, courtyards, temples and gardens constructed by the Kachwaha rulers. The panoramic hilltop views, Sheesh Mahal and the Maota Lake below make it a must-visit attraction in Jaipur.

Jaigarh Fort

Perched high on the Aravalli hills, Jaigarh Fort was built as a defensive structure to protect Amber. It houses the famous Jaivana Cannon, considered one of the largest cannons on wheels in the world. The fort offers spectacular views of the surrounding hills and the Amber Fort complex.

Hawa Mahal

The Hawa Mahal, or “Palace of Winds”, is a five-storey architectural marvel facing the bustling Johari Bazaar. Its honeycomb façade with hundreds of small windows (jharokhas) was designed so that royal ladies could view street processions while remaining unseen. It has become one of the most photographed monuments of Jaipur.

City Palace

Located in the heart of the old city, the City Palace complex blends Rajput and Mughal architecture. Inside, you can visit the textile museum showcasing royal costumes and the armoury museum with Rajput and Mughal weapons. The courtyards, gateways and royal halls reflect the lifestyle of the Jaipur rulers.

Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is one of the five astronomical observatories built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features a collection of masonry instruments used to study celestial bodies and measure time with great accuracy.

Sisodia Rani Palace & Other Sites

Other interesting places around Jaipur include the Sisodia Rani Palace and Garden, the royal cenotaphs at Gaitor and the ancient Sun Temple at Galta Ji, surrounded by hills and natural springs.
